Pedagogical engineering in the modern pedagogical university is an important process, the purpose of which is the development, modernization and rationalization of learning processes and technologies. The author of the article substantiates the importance of such work because the efficiency, quality and success of the process of preparing students for professional activity depend on the learning technologies used. The author also reveals the idea that the teaching of theoretical disciplines of the specialty should be matched with the presentation of their place in a school subject, with the demonstration of methodological aspects of their study. Such focus on practiceoriented learning characterizes modern pedagogical engineering and correlates with the directions and goals of the PPU Development Strategy. The author aims to show the opportunity to combine the training sessions with the search for modern forms of learning. For this purpose, using the example of Russian language workbooks developed by philology students, the author demonstrates the interaction of students' research work with the theoretical material being studied, ways of connecting it with specific methodological issues. Thus, this article makes a certain contribution to the development of ideas of pedagogical engineering. The description of the ways of work on the preparation of workbooks on the Russian language with the demonstration of the final result determines the practical significance of this article.
