As part of an experimental study conducted at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University on the effects of graphic novels on the reading comprehension skills of literature department students, this paper will introduce the process of pre, during, and after reading activities applied to both traditional text and graphic novel groups, as well as student reactions to those activities. Thus, we want to illustrate how graphic novel form, as an authentic resource, may be introduced into reading courses to develop (critical) reading abilities.
