The article emphasizes the importance of the historical principle of knowledge of the works of Abay, the main provisions of which are confirmed by conclusions in the field of Abay research. Although Abai’s life, work, personality, and role in Kazakh literature have been studied extensively, the need to expand the current channel for studying Abay is clearly recognized. New directions in Abay studies are correlated with the interests of an independent country. Most of the research work in the Soviet period did not allow the freedom of speech, thought and views of the poet, the study of the roots. It is not a secret that attempts were made to interpret the political and social activities of Abay in the interests of the Soviet period. It is very important to weigh the "insightful thought" expressed in the verses and words of edification of Abay, to reveal the foundations of his teachings, to follow him as the "cultural capital of our nation" and recognize him as the noble principle of humanity. Therefore, it is important to turn to a historical position to show the conceptual basis of the poet’s heritage.
