The relevance of the study is to remove the historical layers of our national consciousness and traditions, which have been distorted for many years, to glorify our value, to give a positive assessment from an independent point of view. The subject of research was the novel dialogue “Akan seri” by the writer Saken Zhunisov. In the article, the authors aim to determine the place and significance of the hostage tradition in the life of the Kazakh people, reflected in literary works. In the process of achieving this goal, historical works of scientists, written from the point of view of independence, are widely used. With examples from the text, the authors prove the presence of continuity and connection in the artistic works of writers and historians, which deeply enrich the life of the country. It is known that the tradition of hostages is recorded in science to this day in historical, ethnographic, legal and cultural senses. The relevance of this study is that for the first time the manifestations of the hostage tradition in each period of Kazakh literature (Soviet period, period of independence. On the basis of literary materials, the characteristic features of the product and the purpose of its creation are determined.
